Description It has thick root with nodes and grows in layer. It is 2-3 meters tall with long broad leaf forming a shape of sword. It has a white flowers, which appears on a long stalk that grows from the root. The fruit has a rough skin with plaits and turns brown when it ripe. It has strong aroma with 40-50 seeds in it. It grows in thick forest in the tropical area. Found in Nepal, West Bengal and South India.

Active Compounds The seeds contain the glycosides, petunidin 3,5-diglucoside and leucocyanidin-3-O-ß-D-glucopyranoside, and a new aurone glycoside, subulin.
Medicinal Properties Has antiulcer and antioxidant actions.It has stimulant, stomachic, alexipharmic and astringent properties, and are prescribed for the treatment of indigestion, vomiting, biliousness, abdominal pains and rectal diseases.
Taste and properties Hot taste and warming nature.
Uses Supports stomach, intestines and spleen. Improves appetite. Treats poor digestion, bloating of stomach due to diminished heat of the spleen, vomiting and diarrhea due to undigested food and heals lip lesions.
